Annie and Steve swiped right on tinder the summer of 2015 and met at a Starbucks inside a Barnes and Noble at Renaissance just outside Jackson, Mississippi. Steve was reminded of a scene from a movie where an old guy gives a young guy advice about what makes a woman a keeper when he saw Annie sitting there with two cups of coffee; Annie felt a monarch butterfly flock flutter and all land at once. Steve drove up to Greenwood one Saturday for lunch at the local bookstore and a walk around town, Annie headed south on 55 to spend the day getting tattoos and burgers in Fondren.
The years after their first fling taught both Annie and Steve lots of valuable lessons. Memories aged well and curiosity over the years led to catch up conversations and consistent daydreams. Annie spent New Years Eve 2020 in Jackson, and they drove together back to Austin. In March when Austin was shutting down, Annie spent the month with Steve and in June, she moved in.
On an old logging highway off the Blue Ridge Parkway, 3,000 miles into a motorcycle trip from Mississippi to Maine and back again, Annie and Steve decided to get married. They moved to Blairstown, NJ where they live in a little house in the woods with Virgil and Eddy and keep their fire pit stocked.
